Boy Scouts Honor Rosa Scharf

Catonsville resident Rosa Scharf was recently presented The Silver Beaver Award in recognition of her efforts on behalf of young people and of the Boy Scouts of America. The Silver Beaver Award is the highest commendation bestowed on an adult volunteer by the Boy Scouts. Scharf has been a leader in the Eagle Scout Moms initiative. Her son Joey attained the rank of Eagle Scout in 2012. Her husband Jeff is Scoutmaster of Troop 306.

Scharf is Senior Vice President and Branch Team Leader for Howard Bank. Among her civic activities, she has served as Chair of the The Jim Rouse Entrepreneurial Fund, Vice Chair of the Howard County Division of the American Heart Association, Treasurer of MakingChange (a nonprofit devoted to improving people's lives through financial education), and as a member of the board of the Howard County Chamber of Commerce and the Hispanic College Fund.

Scharf's professional and civic achievements have earned her many awards. She has been honored twice as one of Maryland 's Top 100 Women by The Daily Record, was named the 2008 United States Small Business Administration Financial Services Champion of the Year, and received the 2007 Individual Achievement Award from the Committee for Business and Economic Diversity of the Howard County Economic Development Authority. She is a graduate of Leadership Howard County.
